CET SchemeThe new CET cycle started on January 1st 2007. This means that 36 points are needed by the end of December 2009 to remain on the GOC register. If you have any areas of specialisation you will be required to collect more specialist points. Optometrists on the therapeutics registers will need a further 18 points in this area and Contact Lens DOs will need an additional 18 contact lens points. You will also now need to ensure that any CET you attend or complete is approved your target group (ie optometrists, dispensing optician, or contact lens opticians). CET can be approved for more than one target group and the CET provider should make it clear which groups the CET has been approved for. For further information on the CET scheme you should visit the Vantage website who run it on behalf of the GOC.
